Tony’s Legendary Wine Cellar Dinner 9/22: Celebrate the wines of Italian icon Radikon

“Oslavia is one of the most soulful, evocative places in Italy,” wrote the Italian wine critic Antonio Galloni (Vinous Media) in his remembrance of Italian wine icon Stanko Radikon last week after the beloved winemaker passed away unexpectedly.

“Stanko Radikon was a man of purpose and deeply held beliefs,” remembered Galloni. “Like many of the producers in this part of Italy, Radikon also carried a sense of gravitas acquired over many years of fighting against convention and dealing with the scorn his wines received in some circles… Radikon’s whites, macerated on the skins and aged for several years in cask, were much more like red wines than whites… Time marched to a different rhythm here.”

When Tony gave Tony’s general manager Scott Sulma the keys to the wine cellar a few weeks ago so that he could select the flight for the “Tony’s Legendary Wine Cellar Dinner” this Thursday, he had no idea that the inclusion of the 2003 Radikon would also become a poignant tribute to one of the world’s most venerated grape growers and vintners.
