French winemaker Luc Morlet hails from one of the most prestigious families of Champagne and he holds degrees from France’s leading schools of enology and viticulture. After mastering the trade at home in Champagne, where he began working in the family winery at a very early age, he headed west to California where he worked as a consulting enologist for some of Napa and Sonoma’s top wineries. He returned to California in 2006, not for wine but for love: in 2010 he and his wife Jodie, whom he had met while working in California, began making wines there and ultimately bought a small estate in St. Helena where he continues to make some of the most coveted and sought-after wines in the U.S. today.
